Iridescent prospects for agriculture development

In the beginning of February of current year the Agreement was signed between the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the UN (FAO) and Public Fund "RDC-Elet "on carrying out of a seminar for the selected participants from organisations of civil and private sectors of 6 countries of CIS. This activity will be directed for discussion of needs and approaches in strengthening of potential and institutional formations for agribusiness and the agro-industry in selected CIS countries. Representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will be invited for participation at a meeting which will pass in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The seminar is planned for May, 2010. During seminar, the current functions and technical potential of establishments of civil sector (basically, the Ministries of Agriculture and commerce) in support of development of agribusiness and the agro industry with the review for definition of the desirable functions, necessary internal structures and the technical competence will be learned. It will consider also possibilities in which dialogue and cooperation between private and civil sectors can be structured and introduced. Besides, various ways with which FAO could make a contribution to develop of the given direction, by means of work at regional and national levels will be considered. It is expected that during seminar FAO presents the activity in the given sphere in the selected countries and will offer a format of technical cooperation.
