A good beginning makes a good ending!

From March, 19th till April, 5th of current year a trip of RDC-Elet Director is planned across some CIS countries, selected for participation in a forthcoming subregional three-day seminar which is planned on the end of May, 2010. We will remind that representatives are invited to a seminar from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Iridescent prospects for agriculture development

In the beginning of February of current year the Agreement was signed between the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the UN (FAO) and Public Fund "RDC-Elet "on carrying out of a seminar for the selected participants from organisations of civil and private sectors of 6 countries of CIS.

Results of successful cooperation.

Starting from April 2008 up to September 2009 the project on biodiversity conservation and community based tourism to support socio-economic development of Chon-Kemin Valley was implemented in the territory of Chon-Kemin.

It is necessary to mention that this project was implemented on the base of Agreemetn signed between RDC-Elet and “Oikos onlus” (Italy).

Public Foundation Rural Development Centre "RDC-Elet"

The Rural Development Centre “RDC-Elet” is a not for profit and non governmental organisation that supports social cultural, and educational initiatives to alleviate rural poverty in Central Asia.

Our mission: is to assist rural communities in Central Asia with finding their own solutions for poverty alleviation”.

How we work...

We work throughout the Kyrgyz Republic, and currently have office in Bishkek and representative in the South. All of our activities in the Kyrgyz Republic are coordinated so that we can ensure the same high level of service and support to the most remote rural villages.

Our focus is to assist poor communities build and develop their own capacity to mobilise resources, develop knowledge networks and build skills for improving their livelihood opportunities. Over the last three years we have developed our own unique approach for social mobilsation and developing capacity based on international best practice. We are already using these approaches to assist a major World Bank Village Investment Project. Our dedicated team also facilitates links between rural communities, local government bodies, businesses other NGOs, and international donor organisations in order to create real partnerships for development and poverty reduction.

 

Our staff are well traveled and we have also established links with other major rural development organisations operating throughout the Former Soviet Union.

  • S-VIP Project, also funded by DFID and aimed at implementation of the Village Investment Project of World Bank and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic;
  • FAO Project focused on institutional capacity building of small scale enterprises in mountainous regions of the Kyrgyz Republic;
  • The Mountain Institute Project aimed at conservation of the local communities’ culture.
